Grace Holmes, 85, Garland, passed away peacefully in her home with both her daughter's by her side in Garland Texas, October 17, 2013. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Sunday, November 3, 2013 for her as well as her son, Paul Christian, who passed away on July 29, 2013. This will take place at her daughter's home in Rowlett. Friends and family are welcome to come and go as they please from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Come, visit and celebrate Grace and Chris' life with us and enjoy Grace's favorite barbeque and beverages. Grace was born on January 31, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York to Walter and Julia Bierds. She grew up in Brooklyn with her siblings until she married on January 24, 1953 to Paul Harper Holmes. He swept her off her feet and brought her to Texas. Grace enjoyed her family and friends, going all out for special occasions. Crocheting and doing needle work were her passions. Spending time with her grandkids was always a priority. Anyone knows that her sense of humor was one of her most endearing qualities. She is survived by her daughters Juliana and Mary, as well as her 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Etta, brother Walter, husband and son.
